Can I use this above a sink?
Not close enough to splash. Keep it away from the sink itself and away from steam vents above the stove. It's IP20 rated, which is for dry areas only.

Do I need a wall switch?
Yes, the lamp is wired to a wall switch. You'll need one fitted within comfortable reach of the lamp.

Can the arm stay horizontal?
Yes, once you set the angle, the arm holds position. You can swing it in and out, adjust the head angle, and it stays where you put it.
