Six points of light around an open crown
Windsor is built around a wide ring of metalwork, pierced with cross and fleur cut outs, that reads like a crown turned upside down. Six scrolled arms reach out from the ring to hold candle style lamps, each one finished with a round ball finial, while a single drop hangs from the centre of the basket underneath. It is a strong, medieval silhouette rather than a delicate one.
A darker, more textured graphite
This six light version is finished in graphite rather than the gold patina used elsewhere in the range, giving it a heavier, more textured character. There is no crystal detailing on this finish, so the cut outs and scrollwork in the metal itself carry the design.
How It Works
Six E14 candle bulbs sit in the open arms, throwing light outward and up rather than down, which suits a fitting meant to be seen as much as to illuminate. The suspension chain is adjustable, taking the overall drop from ceiling to fitting anywhere between 94cm and 245.2cm, so it can sit close under a low ceiling or hang further down over a table. As a hardwired ceiling fitting, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
Where It Works Best
The graphite finish and open crown shape suit a country or farmhouse style kitchen more naturally than a formal dining room, though it works equally well centred over a long refectory table or hung in a farmhouse style hallway with enough headroom to appreciate the full drop.
Elstead Lighting
Windsor comes from Elstead Lighting, a British lighting group whose history traces back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and which is still led by the Lucas family today. The same crown shaped frame is also available in a gold patina finish with crystal drops for a more decorative look, alongside a matching four light pendant and single wall light for carrying the design through a room.
