The Kinsale Single Pillar Lantern stands a little over a metre tall on its own hexagonal base, marking out a driveway, path or gateway with a warm, traditional glow rather than a floodlit glare. Its six sided lantern head sits on a slender post, giving it the look of a miniature street lamp rather than a garden spike light.

Black polymer and clear polycarbonate

The post, lantern head and base are all finished in matte black polymer, so the fitting reads as one continuous piece rather than parts bolted together. The lantern panels are clear polycarbonate rather than glass, cut with the same faceted, six sided shape you would expect from a traditional coach lantern, and chosen because polymer and polycarbonate resist the knocks, damp and salt air that get to metal and glass fittings left outdoors.

How It Works

A single E27 LED bulb sits behind the clear panels and casts light out through all six sides of the lantern head, so it lights the ground around it rather than throwing a beam in one direction. The bulb is not included, and if you fit a dimmable E27 LED bulb the lantern will respond to a dimmer switch, useful for taking the glow down on a quieter evening.
