A gentler curve overhead
Most flush fittings are content to sit flat against the ceiling, but the Falmouth adds a bit of drama with a looped frame that narrows into a soft heart shape below the ceiling plate. Finished in a rich French Gold, it catches the light along every curve, even before you turn it on.
Gold frame, white shade
Under the open loops sits a full drum shade in plain white fabric, which wraps right around the light source. The gold plating shows through the gap where the shade meets the frame, so there is always a glint of warmth visible even with the lamps switched off.
How it works
Three G9 lamps point upward inside the shade rather than down at the room, so a white acrylic diffuser above them takes the light and spreads it out softly. You get a wide, even glow across the ceiling and walls rather than a bright spot directly underneath.
Where it works best
Because it hugs the ceiling instead of dropping down on a chain, the Falmouth suits bathrooms and other rooms with restricted headroom, and the IP44 rating means it can go into a bathroom zone that calls for that level of protection. The warm gold and soft white also make it a good match for a bedroom or dressing room.
Elstead's take on a classic shape
Elstead has been building on traditional British lighting shapes for decades, and the Falmouth is one of its softer, more romantic reworkings of the flush fitting. The same design is also made in Polished Chrome with a black shade, in case you would rather cool the look down than warm it up.
