A tall, single flame for the bathroom

Dryden is built around one tall stem topped with a wide, trumpet shaped glass shade, styled like an old fashioned glass topped table lamp turned into a wall fitting. In Polished Nickel, it has a soft, grey toned shine rather than the yellow warmth of brass or the sharper flash of chrome, so it reads as classic without feeling overly formal.

The stem, the ribbed collar under the shade and the oval backplate are all finished in Polished Nickel, a soft, grey toned shine with none of the yellow cast of brass. It holds up well against condensation and regular cleaning in a bathroom. The shade itself is clear glass, left plain, so the bulb inside is visible rather than diffused.

How it works

A single G9 bulb sits on a small holder inside the glass shade, and the flare of the shade carries light both upward and outward into the room rather than straight down onto a basin. The whole fitting is slim enough to sit close to the edge of a mirror without the arm getting in the way, and it fixes to the wall through an oval backplate at the base of the stem.

Where it works best

Dryden reads particularly well against marble or veined stone, where the grey undertone of the nickel sits comfortably rather than competing with the surface, and a pair either side of a mirror makes a strong, symmetrical statement. The Dryden range carries that same traditional style into a fitting built specifically for bathroom use, with the tall, single arm silhouette borrowed from old fashioned washstand lighting.
