A slender chrome torch for the wall

Dryden takes the shape of an old fashioned hurricane torch and turns it into a bathroom wall light. A fluted chrome stem, 41cm tall, tapers up to a flared glass shade shaped like an open flower head, giving the fitting a crisp, formal profile that has not really dated since it was first designed.

Finish

Polished chrome covers the stem, the ribbed collar under the shade and the oval wall plate, giving a hard, cool shine that reflects the room around it rather than warming it up the way brass would. The glass shade itself is left clear rather than frosted, so the chrome fittings and the bulb inside stay fully on show.

How it works

A single 3W LED G9 bulb sits in the shade holder, and the flared glass throws light both upward and out into the room. The bulb is not included, so you will need to fit your own before switching it on. The fixture only projects about 12cm off the wall, so it tucks in neatly beside a mirror or over a basin without eating into the space around it. It is wired directly into the wall rather than plugged in, so we always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Where it works best

Dryden suits a bathroom with plenty of white tile, chrome tapware or a large mirror to bounce light back into, standing well either as a single sconce beside a mirror or in a matching pair flanking one.
