Elstead Dryden Single Bathroom Wall Light - Polished Nickel

A torchiere shade in bright nickel

Dryden takes the classic torchiere shape, a flared glass shade sitting atop a slender tapering column, and finishes it in polished nickel rather than brass or chrome. Nickel sits between the two, cooler than brass but softer than chrome, so it reads as bright metal without the harder mirror shine.

Polished nickel finish

The column is slim and tapers to a pointed base, polished bright rather than aged or brushed, with a compact oval wall plate keeping the fixing simple. Above it, the shade is clear glass with a fine fluted texture running from rim to base, catching the light even before the bulb is on. The same shade also comes in polished brass and polished chrome, and the Dryden name covers a rounder globe shade and a cylindrical design elsewhere in the range, so there's scope to match finishes and shapes across a room.

How it works

Light from a single G9 bulb passes up through the fluted glass and flares outward from the top of the shade, spreading a little wider than a bare bulb would on its own. The fitting is wired directly into the wall rather than plugged in, so we'd always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Where it works best

Does the Dryden wall light come with a bulb? No. It takes a single G9 bulb, 3W LED, which isn't supplied, so you'll need to fit your own.
