Elstead Dryden Round Single Bathroom Wall Light - Polished Brass

A simple, timeless silhouette

There's an old fashioned charm to a plain glass globe on a metal stem, the kind of fitting you might have seen in a house built a hundred years ago and one that still looks right today. The Dryden keeps that shape deliberately plain, letting the polish of the brass and the glow of the globe do the work.

Polished brass finish

The stem is smooth and tapering rather than fussy, finished bright and polished so it keeps a warm gleam even with the light off. A ribbed collar sits where the globe meets the arm, and the fixing plate at the wall is a simple oval. The same globe and stem shape is also made in polished chrome, so a bathroom mixing warm and cool metals can still carry the Dryden design through both finishes.

How it works

A single G9 LED lamp sits inside the opal glass globe, and light spreads through the glass in every direction rather than firing out as a hard beam, which is kind to the eyes when you're stood close at a mirror. The bulb isn't included, so fit a 3W LED G9 of your choice, and choose a dimmable one if you want to bring the level down for evening use.

Where it works best

Two on either side of a mirror give balanced, shadow free light for shaving or applying makeup, while one on its own suits a smaller cloakroom or a spot above a basin. Elstead's approach to design

Elstead is a British decorative lighting group and distributor, still led today by the Lucas family whose roots go back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire. The brand's traditional pieces, the Dryden included, tend to favour classic shapes like this globe and stem over anything more elaborate.
