A softly lit column in polished chrome
The Dryden Cylindrical pairs a smooth, tapered opal glass shade with a slender, fluted chrome column, giving a wall light that reads as more sculptural than a plain drum or globe shade. It sits at the more refined end of the Dryden family, built for spaces where a bit of shine and shape are welcome.
Polished chrome finish
The stem is fluted from top to bottom and tapers to a small pointed finial, finished in a full mirror polish rather than a brushed or satin look. Plain chrome banding trims the opal glass shade where it meets the stem and at its open end, and a small oval backplate keeps the wall fixing neat and unobtrusive.
How It Works
A single G9 bulb sits inside the smooth opal glass shade, which diffuses its light evenly along the tube rather than letting the bulb show through, for a soft, even glow rather than a hard point of light. Elstead specifies a 3W LED G9 for this fitting, which is not supplied, and fitting a dimmable G9 bulb lets you take the level down for evening use.
Where It Works Best
Mounted in a pair either side of a mirror, or singly above a basin, it suits bathrooms and cloakrooms with a period or transitional feel, where the polished chrome can pick up reflected light without the shade competing for attention.
