The Chapel Single Pillar Lantern fills the gap between a wall mounted light and a full height lamp post, standing a metre tall on its own stepped base rather than fixing to brick or stone. It's the option to reach for when a full size post would overwhelm a small border but a low level light wouldn't carry far enough to be useful.

This version is finished in black, cast in die cast aluminium with a fine textured coating rather than a smooth gloss. The lantern head keeps the peaked roof and single finial seen across the Chapel range, its scalloped roof skirt sitting above four clear glass panels that leave the lamp itself on show rather than hidden behind frosted or leaded glass.

How it works

A single E27 LED lamp sits inside the lantern head, so you choose the exact colour temperature and brightness rather than being tied to one fixed light source, and the bulb isn't supplied with the fitting. Fit a dimmable LED and it will work on a compatible dimmer switch. The faceted column below the head joins to the base with concealed fixing screws, and the whole thing carries an IP44 rating, so rain and general outdoor exposure aren't a concern.

Where it works best

Standing a metre tall on a footprint of just over 20cm, it suits smaller front gardens, the edge of a patio, or a spot beside steps where a full size lamp post would dominate but a light fixed low to the ground wouldn't be seen from the path. It works well planted either side of a short driveway or along a garden path, marking the route without needing a run of wall lights.
