A wall lantern that lights the wall as much as the ground

Most wall lanterns point down, throwing a pool of light onto the path or step below. The Chapel Mini Up switches that around, sitting on top of its bracket rather than hanging below it, so the beam travels up the wall behind the fitting as well as out through the glass. The result is a lantern that reads as a feature in its own right after dark, not just a source of light aimed at the ground.

Matte black finish

The body is die cast aluminium, finished in a flat matte black that suits render, brick or stone equally well without drawing attention to itself in daylight. Clear glass panels run around all four sides of the lantern head, so the bulb inside is visible from every angle rather than hidden behind a single window.

How It Works

A single E27 bulb sits inside the lantern head, and because the whole fitting faces upward, the glass panels catch more of the light than they would in a down facing version, useful if you want the lantern itself to glow after dark rather than just lighting the ground beneath it. The bulb is not included. Fit a dimmable E27 bulb and the lantern will work with a dimmer switch; a standard bulb will simply switch on and off as normal.

Where It Works Best

It suits a porch, a front entrance or a garden wall where you want the wall surface itself lit up as a backdrop, rather than a bright patch on the floor. Mounted either side of a door, it pairs naturally with the down facing Chapel Mini wall light for a matching set, and the same collection also includes pillar and pedestal versions if you're lighting a driveway or garden path as well as the doorway.

Does the Chapel Mini lantern point up or down? This version faces upward, sitting on top of its wall bracket so the light spreads up the wall as well as out through the glass. A down facing version is also available in the same range if you'd prefer light directed toward the ground.

What bulb does it take, and is it included? It takes a single E27 bulb, not included, so you'll need to fit one before use. Choose a dimmable E27 bulb if you want to run it on a dimmer switch.
