A tall column with a wide, clear flare

The Carroll Tall single wall light stretches the classic torchiere shape further than the standard single in the Carroll range, standing on a fluted chrome column beneath a bell shaped glass shade that flares out wide at the rim. Because the glass is plain and clear rather than ribbed, more of the bulb's glow shows through, giving the fitting a brighter, more transparent presence on the wall.

Finish

The column, decorative finial and curved wall arm are all finished in polished chrome, buffed to a bright, mirror like shine rather than a soft brushed look. The reeded texture running down the column and the beaded ring where the shade meets the fitting catch the light from different angles, adding detail without needing a coloured or textured shade to do it.

How it works

A single G9 bulb sits low inside the glass shade, held on a stepped wall rose that curves out on a chrome arm to keep the shade clear of the wall. Fit a dimmable G9 bulb and the light responds to a dimmer switch, moving from a bright wash up through the clear glass to something softer for evening use. This fitting wires directly into the wall, so it should always be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

The added height on the Tall version suits a longer run of wall, either side of a large mirror or above a countertop basin, where the extra scale balances the space rather than getting lost against it. It also works well as a single fitting in a bathroom or cloakroom with higher ceilings.
