Elstead Blake Single Bathroom Wall Light - Polished Nickel

The Blake borrows its shape from Victorian gas lighting: a slender curved arm reaching out to a trumpet shaped glass shade, its rim flared wide enough to let light spread into the room rather than stay hidden inside. In polished nickel it reads a little cooler and more understated than the same design in brass, without the harder shine of chrome.

Polished nickel, clear glass

The reeded oval backplate, curved arm and turned shade holder are all finished in polished nickel, a plating that sits between the warmth of brass and the coolness of chrome and tends to suit bathrooms where the taps and fittings are already mixed metal. The shade itself is clear glass, left plain so the flare of the trumpet shape and the bulb inside stay fully visible rather than diffused.

How It Works

A single G9 lamp holder sits inside the glass shade on a turned nickel collar, so the light throws upward and out through the flared rim instead of straight ahead into the room. Fit a dimmable G9 bulb and it will respond to a standard dimmer switch, useful for taking the brightness down for an evening bath. The fitting wires directly into the wall, so we always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Where It Works Best

Being IP44 rated, the Blake is suitable for use in the bathroom, whether that's either side of a mirror or as a single fitting beside a bath or basin. An Elstead design

Elstead is a British lighting brand and distributor with roots going back to The Elstead Forge in Alton, Hampshire, and still led by the same Lucas family generations on.
