A perfect sphere of light

The Austen Round takes the classic globe wall light and gives it a cleaner, more geometric edge. A generous opal glass ball sits above a ribbed collar, held out from the wall on a turned arm with a ball joint so you can angle the light exactly where you want it. It's a simple shape, but the ribbed detailing on the backplate and collar gives it real presence next to a mirror.

Finish

This version is finished in polished chrome, a hardwearing, easy to clean finish that suits contemporary bathrooms as happily as period ones. The chrome plated aluminium base has a genuine mirror shine, while the opal glass globe stays soft and matte so it diffuses light rather than glaring. The same design is also available in polished nickel if you're matching to existing taps and fittings elsewhere in the room.

How it works

It takes a single G9 bulb behind the opal glass, a 3W LED is recommended, which diffuses the light into a soft, even glow rather than a single bright point, so it's kind and flattering at close range. The ball jointed arm means the head can be tilted up, down or to the side after installation, useful if the light needs to clear a mirror frame or a cabinet edge. This fitting is wired directly into the wall, so we always recommend a qualified electrician installs it.

Where it works best

Designed and rated for bathroom use, the Austen Round is equally at home beside a mirror, above a basin, or flanking a shaving cabinet. The globe shade throws light in every direction, which is useful in smaller bathrooms where one fitting has to do most of the work.
