A Wall Light That Throws Light Both Ways
The WL070 SPS is a compact up and down wall light that lights a wall, a pillar or a doorway from one fixed point, sending a narrow beam upward and another downward at the same time. That single trick makes it useful for marking an entrance, running along a boundary wall or picking out a line of porch pillars, and because it wires straight to the mains there's no separate driver box to find room for nearby.
The Bronze Finish
This version comes in Collingwood's bronze finish, a deep, warm toned anodised aluminium rather than the brand's plain silver or black cases. Against brick, stone or render it reads as a more traditional, weathered metal, and it sits comfortably next to timber doors or exposed brickwork where a bright silver housing would look too modern. The waisted, hourglass shaped body is the same anodised aluminium build used across the WL070 range, simply finished in this warmer bronze tone.
How It Works
The LED sends light out through openings at the top and bottom of the fixture, so one wall light does the job of both an up light and a down light at once, through a fairly tight 12 degree beam. The driver is built into the housing, so the WL070 SPS wires directly to the mains without a separate transformer or driver unit to plan for. The LED is fixed rather than a replaceable lamp, so the colour temperature, 2700K, 3000K or 4000K, is chosen at the point of ordering rather than swapped later, and the fixture is not dimmable.
Where It Works Best
Being IP65 rated, the WL070 SPS Bronze suits exterior walls, gate piers, garage fronts and porch pillars, anywhere you want light thrown both up and down the same surface. Its narrow 12 degree beam keeps the light fairly directional rather than washing the whole wall, which suits framing a front door, marking the corners of a driveway or picking out a pillar without spilling light into neighbouring windows. Rated well beyond the IP44 threshold, it's also suitable for use in bathroom lighting zones; see Moonlight's guide to bathroom lighting zones and regulations for what's allowed in each zone.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and builds its LED fixtures from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has focused on LED technology since 2002. Collingwood says it was among the first brands to bring fire rated, fully sealed for life and mains dimmable LED products into the UK electrical wholesale market, at a time when LED was still a newer choice for many installers. The company has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Runs at 5.4W, giving 510 lumens at 2700K, 550 lumens at 3000K or 560 lumens at 4000K, through a 12 degree beam and an 80 CRI rating.
- Measures 120mm high x 80mm wide x 128mm deep and weighs 1kg.
- Backed by a 7 year warranty and a rated 70,000 hour LED lifetime.
- IP65 rated, sealed against dust and protected against water jets from any direction, so it's built for direct outdoor exposure.
- Class I electrical construction, which means the installation needs an earth connection.
- Not dimmable, and wired in parallel so several fixtures can run from the same circuit.
- The LED is fixed and can't be replaced or swapped for a different colour temperature after installation.
- Wipe the anodised aluminium housing clean with a soft, dry cloth rather than abrasive or solvent based cleaners.
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask

No, the driver is built into the housing, so the fixture wires directly to the mains supply without a separate transformer or driver unit.
Can the WL070 SPS Bronze be dimmed?
No, this fixture is not dimmable, so it should be installed on a standard switched lighting circuit rather than a dimmer circuit.
What colour temperatures does the WL070 SPS Bronze come in?
