Refurbishment jobs nearly always hit the same snag. The old fittings come out and leave behind ceiling apertures that nothing current quite covers. The Collingwood Thea Pro answers that with a trim that suits any round cut out from 145mm to 180mm, so a single fitting handles a whole floor of mismatched holes. It is a genuinely high performance LED downlight, reaching up to 142 lumens per watt, and with the separate THP12UGR insert fitted it meets UGR19 for low glare work spaces.

White trim, aluminium body, two outputs

The face you see is white, RAL9003, a flat 195mm ring around a deeply recessed cone. Behind the ceiling line it wants 99mm of clear depth. The housing is ADC12 aluminium alloy with a polycarbonate and PET diffuser and TP(a) thermoplastic, and Collingwood builds it silicone free. A white reflector is fitted as standard and rates UGR22. Output is your other choice: 10W for 1400 lumens or 14W for 2000 lumens, both 4000K with CRI 80 and an 80 degree beam. White on white is rather the point. Against painted plasterboard or a plastered ceiling the trim reads as a soft shadow rather than a piece of hardware, which is exactly what a specifier wants across a ceiling grid of thirty of them.

How It Works

Two decisions set the code you order. Dimming comes first. The non dimmable versions, THP1N at 10W and THP2N at 14W, arrive with their gear supplied and are ready to wire. The dimmable versions, THP1X and THP2X, need a matching Collingwood driver bought separately: THP1DD for the 10W and the DALI-2 THP23DD for the 14W. Neither driver is in the box with the fitting.

The second decision is glare. The UGR19 in the product name comes from an accessory, not from the fitting on its own. The THP12UGR insert drops into both the THP1 and THP2 bodies and takes the glare rating from UGR22 down to UGR19, so order it alongside the downlight wherever the specification calls for UGR19.

Installation is quick. Prepare or reuse an aperture anywhere between 145mm and 180mm, wire the mains in, then fold the sprung clips up and push the fitting home until the trim pulls itself flush. The lead running out to the gear box uses a plug connector, so the fitting and its driver separate without tools if either ever needs swapping.

Where It Works Best

This is an office fitting first and foremost. UGR19 matters most where people look at screens all day, which puts open plan floors, meeting rooms, classrooms and study areas at the top of the list. The 4000K output is neutral and businesslike rather than cosy, so it carries over comfortably into retail floors, showrooms, receptions, corridors and back of house areas. Reach for the 14W and its 2000 lumens in taller or busier rooms, and the 10W where ceilings are standard height and the grid is tight.

IP65 opens up wetter rooms too. The fitting is sealed against water jets from any direction, so it can go into a bathroom or wet room ceiling, including Zone 1 above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.
