The Collingwood PR3011 is a power repeater, and its whole job is to stop a large RGBW scheme running out of puff. Push a colour changing circuit far enough and the fittings at the end of the line start to lag behind the ones nearest the controller. The PR3011 sits in that line, takes a 24V DC feed and hands out four fresh 350mA outputs, one each for the red, green, blue and white channels. The last fitting on the run then shows the same colour and the same brightness as the first.

The unit itself

This is a plain white plastic case, 170mm long, 58mm wide and only 28.5mm tall, weighing around 0.2 kg. Nothing about it is meant to be seen. The lid carries its own printed wiring legend, so an electrician can read the terminal layout straight off the box rather than going looking for a manual. Screw terminals sit at both ends, with the DC input and the signal in and out on one side and the V+, R, G, B and W outputs on the other. A moulded fixing lug at each end lets it be screwed down flat.

How It Works

A Collingwood RF controller sets the colour for the zone. Rather than passing that signal through each repeater in turn, the control wiring runs in parallel, so every PR3011 on the system hears the controller directly. Each repeater then drives its own group of fittings with its own current. Collingwood rates up to 100 PR3011 units on a single C100924 controller, which works out at as many as 600 luminaires in one zone.

The repeater does not make its own power. It expects a 24V DC supply from a separate driver, which is why this listing is flagged as requiring one. Where It Works Best

This is a component, so it lives out of sight.
