A Downlight That Adjusts To The Room, Not The Other Way Round
Most recessed downlights lock you into one wattage and one colour temperature from the day they're installed. The Collingwood H4 Lite CSP does the opposite. Switches built into the fitting let you choose between 4W and 6W output, and between warm white, cool white or daylight, without touching any wiring. It's a genuinely useful fix for anyone who isn't completely sure yet how a room should feel once the plaster dust has settled.
The Matt White Bezel
This version has a matt white bezel, a plain, low profile ring that sits flush against a white or light coloured ceiling and quietly disappears rather than drawing attention to itself. The main body is mild steel with V0 rated, fire resistant plastic components, and the complete fitting weighs a modest 257 grams. The head itself tilts within the housing, so the beam can be angled rather than left pointing straight down. If a metallic or dark finish suits the room better, Collingwood also makes this fitting with a brushed steel or a matt black bezel.
How It Works
- Switches on the fitting set the wattage, 4W or 6W, and the colour temperature, warm white, cool white or daylight, so the choice is made once at installation rather than through an app or a remote.
- The head tilts within the bezel, letting you graze a wall or angle light over a worktop instead of pointing it straight down.
- A 70 to 72mm cutout and parallel wiring keep it consistent with standard multi fitting downlight circuits.
- It's mains dimmable using a leading edge or trailing edge dimmer, and CRI is rated above 80, so colours under it stay reasonably true rather than washed out.
Where It Works Best
Being able to switch the colour temperature after fitting makes this a sensible choice anywhere you're not entirely sure whether you want a cooler, more functional light or a warmer, more relaxed one. That covers kitchens, home offices, hallways and open plan living spaces that need to do a bit of both. It's rated IP65 from below, which places it in bathroom zone 1, so it's equally at home above a shower enclosure or a bath. Read our guide to bathroom lighting zones and regulations before planning a bathroom installation.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised purely in LED technology since 2002. Collingwood says it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed for life, and mains dimmable LED downlights to the UK electrical wholesale market, which is exactly the combination built into the H4 Lite CSP. The company has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
- Can I change the colour temperature after it's fitted? Yes. The wattage and colour temperature are set using switches built into the fitting itself, so you choose the setting at the point of installation, or again if you ever take it down.
- Is this downlight safe to use in a bathroom? It's rated IP65 from below, which places it in bathroom zone 1, so it's suitable for use above a bath or shower enclosure.
- Does it need a separate driver? No. The LED is integrated into the fitting, so there's no separate driver to source or fit.
- What size does the ceiling cutout need to be? Between 70 and 72mm, which is the standard hole size for this fitting.
- Can it be dimmed? Yes, using a mains leading edge or trailing edge dimmer switch.
