A Downlight Built to Disappear Into the Ceiling
The H2 Pro 550 is a compact, fire rated recessed downlight designed to sit quietly in the ceiling rather than draw attention to itself. It runs at 5.2W and is available in 3000K warm white or 4000K neutral white, each offered with a choice of 38° or 70° beam angle, so you can narrow the light for a focused pool or spread it wider for general room lighting. With a 90mm diameter and 49mm depth, it needs only a 64 to 72mm ceiling cutout, which helps where joist depth or loft insulation is tight.
Choose Your Finish
The bezel is sold separately from the light engine, so you choose the finish to suit the room. Six options are available, matt black, matt white, gloss white, chrome, brushed steel and silver, or you can skip the bezel entirely for a fully recessed, ring free look in the ceiling. The body itself is mild steel with V0 rated plastic components, built to sit flush and stay put once fitted.
How It Works
Instead of a wired plug connector, the H2 Pro 550 uses Collingwood's easy fit connector, a loop in loop out push in terminal that lets you complete the first fix wiring before the downlight itself goes in. That means less handling of the connector while the ceiling is being closed up, and less risk of a knock damaging it mid install. The LED is integral, so there is no separate driver to source or fit, and the fixture wires straight to the mains supply. It is mains dimmable, so it will work with a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit, and it carries a fire rating for use through ceilings between floors.
Where It Works Best
With an IP65 rating, the H2 Pro 550 is sealed against dust and water jets, which makes it a genuine option for bathroom zone 1, as well as kitchens, hallways, and anywhere else moisture or steam is a factor. Outside of wet rooms it works equally well in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, and home offices, and its fire rated, sealed construction makes it a common choice for commercial fit outs too. Because bezel and beam angle are both selectable, the same fitting can do tight task lighting over a worktop or a wider wash of light across a hallway ceiling. Can I fit this in my bathroom?
Yes. It has an IP65 rating and is suitable for bathroom zone 1, which covers the area directly above a bath or shower. Check the zone requirements for your specific bathroom layout before buying.
Do I need to buy a separate driver?
No. The LED is integral and the fitting wires straight to the mains, so there is no separate driver to source.
What is the difference between the 38° and 70° beam angle?
The 38° option gives a narrower, more focused pool of light, useful over a worktop, mirror, or feature. The 70° option spreads the light more widely, which suits general room lighting.
Does the bezel finish affect the light output?
No. The light engine and beam angle are the same across all bezel finishes. The bezel is a cosmetic choice, including the option to leave it off for a fully recessed look.
Can this be used on an emergency lighting circuit?
A separate emergency converter version is available for this purpose. The standard version described here is not an emergency fitting.
