A Light You Feel Underfoot, Not One You Notice
The GL200 is a small domed marker light that sits flush into paving, decking or a step and washes a soft grazing light across the surface around it. You are not meant to look at it directly. It is there to mark an edge or a change in level after dark, quietly and safely.
The Brass, 1 Facet Version
This version has a solid antique brass dome with a single window cut into one side. Light spills out in that one direction only, so it suits edging a path or picking out a single step rather than glowing all the way round. The brass finish ages gracefully outdoors, taking on a warm, slightly weathered look over time rather than staying showroom shiny.
How It Works
- 5.7W, wired straight to the mains with no separate driver needed
- 20 lumens output at a warm 3000K colour temperature
- 90° beam angle through the single facet window
- 316 stainless steel core sits beneath the brass outer dome
- IP65 rated and IK10 impact rated, so it is built to be walked or driven over
Where It Works Best
Use it to mark the edge of a step, line a garden path, or pick out the boundary of a patio or deck where you want just enough light to see the change in level, not a floodlit driveway. Because it only throws light in one direction, a run of these along one side of a path gives a neat, even line of low glints rather than a scatter of bright dots. It is equally at home set into a driveway edge or a run of decking steps down to a lawn.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. For a fixture like the GL200, built to be sealed against water and walked over, that history matters. Collingwood says it was among the first to bring fully waterproof, sealed for life LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, which is exactly the kind of fixture this is. The company has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- Rated IP65 and IK10, so it is genuinely walk over and drive over safe once installed
- Comes with a 7 year guarantee from Collingwood
- Needs a 70mm cutout; the fitting itself is 76mm in diameter and 72.5mm deep
- Wired straight to the mains (Class I), with no dimming function
- You will need waterproof jointing accessories for the connection below ground, such as a JB5 or WC5-9 connector or a TUBE/68 sleeve, sold separately
- At IP65 it also meets bathroom zone 2 requirements, so it can be considered for a wet room or bathroom floor as well as outdoors. See our guide to bathroom lighting zones for more on what is allowed where
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician, as with any mains wired outdoor fitting
Questions People Ask
Does the GL200 need a separate driver or transformer?
No. It is wired straight to the mains, so there is no driver to house or hide nearby.
Can I really drive over this light?
Yes. It is IK10 impact rated as well as IP65 sealed, so once it is properly installed it can take being walked or driven over.
What do I need to connect it underground?
A waterproof jointing accessory such as a JB5 or WC5-9 connector, or a TUBE/68 sleeve. These are sold separately and are needed for any below ground connection.
Will one of these light up a whole step or path edge?
Not on its own. The 1 facet version throws light in a single direction only, so it is designed to be used in a line or at intervals along an edge rather than as a single wide floodlight.
Can the colour temperature or brightness be changed?
No. This version is fixed at 3000K warm white and is not dimmable.
