One Driver, Five Current Settings
The Collingwood DRV150700 is a constant current LED driver that lets you pick the exact output your fitting needs, rather than being locked into a single current from the moment it leaves the factory.
What This Driver Does
- Constant current output selectable via dip switch: 150mA, 250mA, 350mA, 500mA or 700mA
- Five level lumen selection for fine brightness tuning without a separate dimmer
- Rated at 30W with a 220 to 240V AC mains input
- Runs at around 89% efficiency
- Polycarbonate casing measuring 98mm by 43mm by 22mm
- IP20 rated, for dry, protected locations
How It Works
Set the dip switches to match the output current to the LED load you are feeding, then use the lumen selector to nudge overall brightness up or down. Getting that current match right is one of the most effective ways to stop a fitting from flickering. Our complete guide to why lights flicker goes into more detail on mismatched drivers and what else can cause it.
Where It Works Best
Being IP20 rated, this driver belongs somewhere dry and enclosed, inside a ceiling void, a cabinet, or a purpose made enclosure, never exposed directly to the weather. It is built to power Collingwood's ground lights and other low voltage fittings sold separately, and it earns its keep on residential landscape lighting jobs where different fittings on the same circuit need different output currents. Collingwood recommends it as a modern replacement for the older PLU/350 1-9 and PLU/700 3-9 drivers, so it is worth keeping in mind if you are servicing an existing installation.
About Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting has been developing LED technology since 2002, working out of its design and manufacturing base in Sywell, Northamptonshire. Drivers like this one are part of a wider system, built so that fittings, drivers and controls from the range work together properly rather than being mixed and matched by guesswork. The company says it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed for life and mains dimmable LED products into the UK electrical wholesale market, and it has been awarded an EcoVadis Gold medal, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide for sustainability.
Good to Know
- 5 year warranty
- IP20 rated, suited to dry indoor locations only, such as ceiling voids and enclosures, not bathrooms or outdoor exposure
- Polycarbonate (PC) housing
- Has no light output of its own. It is a driver for powering separate low voltage fittings
- Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician
Questions People Ask
Can I use this driver to power more than one fitting at once?
Yes, provided the combined load across all connected fittings stays within the current you have set on the dip switch and within the driver's 30W maximum.
What happens if I change the dip switch setting after installation?
The driver will run its connected LEDs at the new current straight away, so the setting should only be changed to match the load that is actually connected, not used as a way of dimming a fitting day to day.
Can this driver be fitted outdoors?
No. It is IP20 rated, so it needs to sit somewhere dry and enclosed, such as inside a ceiling void or a weatherproof enclosure, even when it is powering outdoor fittings like ground lights.
Is this a direct replacement for the old PLU/350 and PLU/700 drivers?
Collingwood recommends the DRV150700 as the modern replacement for both the PLU/350 1-9 and PLU/700 3-9 drivers, since its dip switch covers the same range of output currents in one unit.
