A driver made for real DMX colour control
The CCDRV100DMX takes a driver's usual job, converting mains power into something an LED fitting can use, and adds proper DMX control on top. Send it a DMX512 signal and it will run colour changing RGB or RGBW strip and fittings through full programmable sequences, not just on and off or a single fixed colour.
The 100W constant voltage version
This is the 100W constant voltage variant in Collingwood's driver range. It outputs 24V DC across four channels, with each channel rated up to 4.16A. That gives four independently controllable outputs from one unit, useful when a run of RGBW strip needs its red, green, blue and white channels driven and addressed separately.
How It Works
- Mains power comes in at 100 to 240V AC.
- A DMX512 signal tells the driver what colour and brightness each channel should show.
- The driver converts this into a steady 24V DC output split across four channels.
- RGB or RGBW LED strip and fittings, bought separately, connect to those outputs and follow the programmed sequence.
- A small digital display on the unit shows the current DMX address and settings, so installers can check and adjust it without extra tools.
Where It's Used
This kind of driver sits inside an installation rather than on show, so it gets specified for jobs where colour changing lighting needs proper control rather than a basic remote. Think coloured coves and feature walls run from a DMX lighting desk, colour changing strip in a bar or restaurant fit out, or an architectural lighting scheme where several zones need to change colour together on cue. Because the driver handles four channels itself, one unit can often replace several simpler single channel drivers on a job like this.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. Drivers like this one are part of a wider system built around that same DMX and constant voltage approach, and Collingwood says it was among the first companies to bring fully sealed, mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market. The brand has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, putting it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.
Good to Know
- IP20 rated, so this driver is for indoor, dry locations only, not bathrooms, outdoor spaces or anywhere it could get wet or damp.
- Class II construction, so it does not need a separate earth connection.
- Measures 244mm long by 64mm wide by 32mm deep.
- Covered by a 5 year warranty.
- Dimmable via DMX512 control signal.
- This is a mains wired accessory. Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Does this driver come with a DMX controller?
No. The CCDRV100DMX receives a DMX512 signal but the controller or lighting desk that generates it is a separate purchase.
Can I use this driver outdoors?
No. It's IP20 rated, which means indoor, dry locations only.
What can I connect to this driver?
RGB or RGBW LED strip and fittings that take a 24V DC constant voltage supply, all sold separately.
What does having four channels actually mean?
It means the driver can control four separate outputs, for example red, green, blue and white on an RGBW strip, each addressed and dimmed independently through the DMX signal.
Does it need an electrician to install?
Yes. It connects directly to the mains supply, so Moonlight Design recommends installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
