A DALI Driver for Colour Change Lighting
The CCDRV100DALI is a 100W constant voltage driver built for Collingwood's RGB and RGBW colour change lighting and strip. It takes a DALI control signal and turns it into a 24V DC output split across four channels, one each for red, green, blue and white, so a whole colour change fitting or run can be told what to do from the same DALI network as the rest of a building's lighting.
A Compact Unit for Tight Spaces
It measures 244mm long, 64mm wide and 32mm deep, small enough to tuck into a ceiling void, riser or service cupboard without much fuss. Connections are made through screw terminals, and the driver is built to Class II double insulated standard, so it doesn't need a separate earth connection.
How It Works
Once wired into a DALI lighting control system, the driver reads the incoming DALI commands and converts them into a steady 24V DC output across its four channels. Those channels map directly onto the red, green, blue and white elements of an RGBW fitting or strip run, letting the control system dim and mix colour on the same network used for the rest of the building. It also includes built in protection against short circuit and overheating, so a fault downstream doesn't take the driver with it.
Where It Works Best
This driver suits projects that already run DALI lighting control, or plan to, and want colour change lighting managed from that same system rather than a separate remote or standalone controller. Because it's IP20 rated, it needs to sit somewhere dry and enclosed, such as above a suspended ceiling, inside a riser, or in a service cupboard, with the RGB or RGBW fitting or strip it feeds mounted separately out in the room. It has no light output of its own. Its job is purely to power and control fittings and strip sold separately.
Collingwood Lighting
Collingwood Lighting designs and manufactures its LED products, drivers included, from Sywell in Northamptonshire, and has specialised in LED technology since 2002. The brand says it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully sealed and mains dimmable LED products to the UK electrical wholesale market, part of a wider push to get DALI and colour change control into more installations. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
Can this driver control RGB and RGBW fittings at the same time?
It has four output channels, so it can run either an RGB fitting using three of them or an RGBW fitting using all four, but each driver powers one lighting circuit rather than mixed types together.
Does this driver produce any light on its own?
No. It only converts power and passes on DALI control signal to separately sold RGB or RGBW fittings and strip. It has no light output of its own.
Can this be used without a DALI control system?
No. It takes its dimming and colour instructions from a DALI network, so a DALI controller or gateway needs to already be in place for it to work.
Where should this driver be installed?
Because it's IP20 rated, it needs to go somewhere dry and enclosed, such as a ceiling void, riser or service cupboard, rather than anywhere exposed to damp or weather.
Is the CCDRV100DALI dimmable?
Yes. Dimming and colour mixing are controlled through the DALI signal it receives, rather than through a separate dimmer switch.
