Sometimes you don't want light spread across a whole ceiling, you want it aimed at one specific spot: a reading chair, a run of shelving, a piece of art on the wall. The Collingwood 1901 Rotatable Spotlight does exactly that. It fixes flat to the ceiling with no cutout needed at all, and the head rotates a full 360 degrees and tilts 90 degrees, so you can point the beam almost anywhere you like.

This version is made from aluminium and finished in white, so it sits quietly against a white ceiling instead of drawing attention to the fitting itself. From the technical drawing, the round base plate measures around 90mm across and 53mm deep, with the rotating head around 80mm long and 51mm in diameter, small enough to read as a neat accent rather than a bulky add on.

How It Works

This spotlight runs at a total of 9.6W and is available in a choice of light output. There's 2700K extra warm white at around 600 lumens, 3000K warm white at around 625 to 650 lumens, 4000K cool white at around 725 to 750 lumens, or a dim to warm version that shifts down from 3000K to 1800K as it's dimmed. Beam angle is a choice too, a tight 12 degree spot, a mid 24 degree spread, or a wider 50 degree wash (45 degrees on the dim to warm option), so you can match the light to how focused you want it. It's mains dimmable, with the driver supplied and wired in via cable rather than plugged in, so it connects straight to a standard dimmer circuit.

Does this spotlight need a cutout in the ceiling?
No. It surface mounts flat to the ceiling with no cutout at all, which makes it a straightforward option where a recessed downlight isn't possible.

What's the difference between the colour temperature options?
