A Cleaner, More Architectural Line
The 1901 Fixed Square Downlight swaps the usual round bezel for a square one, giving a run of ceiling lights a sharper, more architectural look than the round equivalent. It's fixed rather than adjustable, so once it's fitted the beam stays pointed straight down, which suits a ceiling where a clean, uniform finish matters more than the ability to redirect the light.
Finished All Black, Built From Aluminium
This version is finished throughout in black aluminium, body and square bezel included, so there's no lighter ring or trim breaking the line where the fitting meets the ceiling. The bezel measures 90 x 90mm, the fitting sits 72mm deep once installed, and the cutout is 65 to 78mm depending on ceiling thickness.
How It Works
It runs at 9.6W total, with a choice of beam angle: 12°, 24° or 50°. Colour temperature is fixed per variant: 2700K extra warm white at around 600 lumens, 3000K warm white at around 625 to 650 lumens, or 4000K cool white at around 725 to 750 lumens, plus a dim to warm option that drifts down toward 1800K as it dims, similar to how a halogen bulb fades. CRI90+ keeps colours reading true under any of them. Dimming runs through mains, 1 to 10V or DALI, depending on the driver fitted, which is supplied with the fixture and wired in via cable.
Where It Works Best
It's available in two IP ratings. The IP44 version suits living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, offices, stairwells and commercial spaces. The IP65 version carries the same finish and performance but is sealed for wet conditions, which makes it suitable for bathroom zone 1 as well as everywhere the IP44 version works. Anyone planning a bathroom layout can check Moonlight Design's guide to bathroom lighting zones before deciding which zone each downlight needs to cover. Both versions carry a 30 minute fire rating for solid timber, I-joist and metal web ceiling joists, making this a straightforward, compliant choice above a room where the ceiling void needs that protection.
Collingwood: British LED Design Since 2002
Collingwood has specialised in LED technology since 2002, designing and manufacturing its products from Sywell in Northamptonshire. The brand states it was among the first to bring fire rated, fully waterproof and mains dimmable LED downlights to the UK electrical wholesale market, a claim this fitting backs up directly with its own fire rating and IP65 waterproof option. Collingwood has also been awarded a Gold medal by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 5% of companies assessed globally for sustainability.

Questions People Ask
What's the difference between this and the round 1901 downlight?
This version has a square bezel instead of round, and it's fixed rather than adjustable, so the beam can't be tilted or rotated once it's fitted.
Can I use this downlight in a bathroom?
Only the IP65 version. It's sealed against moisture and rated for bathroom zone 1. The IP44 version is for dry rooms only and isn't suitable for bathrooms.
What size cutout does it need?
The cutout is 65 to 78mm, so it fits most standard downlight ceiling apertures without needing to be enlarged.
What dimming options does it support?
Mains dimming, 1 to 10V dimming or DALI dimming, depending on which driver variant is chosen.
