A Faceted Shade With a Shifting Moiré Glow
The Tanit S/43 is a small pendant with a light, almost sculptural presence. Its shade is hand woven from thin waxed cotton cord over an eight faced frame, and the angle between each face creates a moiré effect as light passes through, shifting slightly depending on where you stand beneath it.
Hand Woven From Waxed Cotton Cord
Each shade is wound by hand from waxed cotton cord over an iron and aluminium frame, so the fine horizontal lines catch the light differently across each of its eight faces. It's a soft, natural texture rather than a glossy or metallic finish, and it comes in a single neutral tone that suits most interiors without competing with them.
How It Works
An integrated LED plate sits at the top of the shade and casts its light down through the woven cord, so the glow diffuses evenly across every face instead of glaring from underneath. It's rated at 14W and 1400 lumens in a warm 2700K white with a CRI of 90, and it's dimmable with a Triac dimmer. The drop is adjustable between 580mm and 2000mm on a compact 120mm ceiling plate, so it can be set low over a table or higher in a taller room.
Where It Works Best
Its small scale and warm, diffused glow suit dining tables, kitchen islands and breakfast bars where a pendant needs to sit close and low without feeling heavy. It also works well in bedrooms, hallways or above a stairwell landing, anywhere that calls for soft ambient light rather than a bright, functional beam.
Made By Bover
Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover sketched a lighting idea for an architect friend's project and turned it into a brand of its own. It's still designed and made in Spain today, run from Cardedeu near Barcelona, and known for two distinct specialities: outdoor pieces hand woven from synthetic fibre, and indoor fixtures built from intricate wood lattice, like the Dome family made from over 170 individually woven beech strips. The Tanit belongs to that same hand woven tradition, brought indoors in cotton cord. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012, carrying its Mediterranean design sensibility further afield.
