A Precise Ring of Twenty Individual Lights

The Skybell Circle S/20L arranges twenty individual LED points into a single, exact circle 3.15 metres across. Rather than reading as one shape, it reads as a constellation of light suspended overhead, the kind of piece that turns a plain ceiling into the room's focal point. It sits in the middle of the Skybell Circle range, large enough to command a big room without needing the scale of the largest sizes in the family.

An Iron and Aluminium Frame, Finished in Black

Each of the twenty lamp points measures just 50mm across, held in place by a slender iron and aluminium structure finished in black. The frame stays deliberately understated, so from below the eye reads the circle of light itself rather than the hardware holding it up. That plain, dark finish also means it settles into most ceiling heights and colour schemes without competing with the rest of the room.

How It Works

Choose between two lighting configurations. Down Lighting sends a focused wash of light straight into the room below, while Up and Down Lighting adds an upward element too, bouncing light off the ceiling for a softer glow around the whole space. Each of the twenty points runs at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering, and the fitting is dimmable. The pendant drops 3.7 metres from the ceiling, so it needs genuine height above to hang properly. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its scale and drop suit large dining rooms, double height entrance halls, staircases and boutique hotel lobbies, anywhere a tall ceiling gives it room to hang properly. It also works well above a kitchen island in an open plan space with enough headroom, where its circular shape can stand as a single deliberate statement rather than one of several lights doing the same job.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, who first sketched the idea for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and makes its lighting in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona. Its outdoor pieces are typically hand woven from synthetic fibre, while indoors it's known for intricate wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family, built from more than 170 individually woven beech strips. Across both, the designs carry a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility. Bover expanded to the US in 2012, opening a subsidiary in Atlanta.
