A Ring of Sixteen Lights

The Skybell Circle S/16L takes Bover's ring shaped Skybell design and multiplies it, hanging sixteen individual LED light points from one large black circle rather than the usual handful. The drops vary in length, some finishing close to the ring and others reaching further down, so the sixteen points read as a loose, staggered scatter rather than a neat row. Suspended in a room with real height, it works more like a piece of sculpture than a conventional pendant.

Two Ways to Light It

The Skybell Circle S/16L comes in two versions. Down Lighting sends all sixteen points straight down, building layered pools of light over the space below. Up and Down Lighting adds an upward element on top of that, so the ceiling picks up a share of the glow as well and the whole room feels lit rather than just the surface underneath. Both share the same black finish in iron and aluminium, so the choice comes down to how you want the light spread through the room.

How It Works

Each of the sixteen points is an integrated LED, dimmable, and set to a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90, so colours read accurately even under a single fixture this size. Light is focused with a 30 degree beam angle rather than spread wide, which keeps the effect crisp and pointed. The full assembly has a 3800mm drop and a 2230mm ring diameter, so it needs a properly tall space to hang in. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits kitchen islands, long dining tables, grand hallways, and stairwells with double height ceilings, anywhere with the vertical space to let sixteen points hang at their full drop. It's built as a genuine centrepiece rather than a background light, so it works best where there's room to see the whole ring from below.

Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover sketched a lighting design for an architect friend's project and went on to found the brand around it. Bover still designs and manufactures from Cardedeu, near Barcelona, working across two distinct styles: hand woven synthetic fibre pieces for outdoor use, and intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. That Mediterranean design outlook carried the brand to open a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
