A Continuous Ring of Light

The Roda S/150 is a slim aluminium ring, one and a half metres across, with an LED strip running its entire circumference. Rather than throwing light from one point, it spreads a smooth, even glow across the whole diffuser, giving a wide span of light with a light, floating profile overhead.

Two Diffuser Tones: Cream or White

Both finishes share the same brown metal frame. The Cream diffuser softens the light slightly, giving it a warmer cast that suits a more traditional dining room. The White diffuser keeps the light neutral and crisp, better suited to a cleaner, more contemporary space. The choice comes down to the tone of light you want rather than any difference in build.

How It Works

An integrated LED strip runs the full circumference of the ring, rated at 66W and 2910 lumens in a warm 2700K white with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. Light diffuses evenly across the diffuser rather than shining from a single point, so it reads as one continuous band of glow rather than a string of individual bulbs. It's compatible with 1-10V dimming, and the drop is adjustable up to 2000mm from a 300mm ceiling plate, so it can be set for the room it's hanging in. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

At 1.5 metres across, the Roda S/150 suits large dining tables, kitchen islands and open plan kitchens where one generous light does more than several smaller pendants. Its scale also works well in double height stairwells and entrance halls, where the ring shape can be appreciated from below and from a distance.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996, when a sketch Joana Bover drew for an architect friend's project grew into the idea for a lighting brand. The company still designs and builds its lighting in Spain, from its base in Cardedeu near Barcelona. Outdoors, Bover is known for hand woven synthetic fibre pieces, and indoors it carries that same craft into intricate wood lattice fixtures like the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. Across the range there's a distinctly Mediterranean design sensibility. Bover opened a subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012, bringing the brand to the US.
