A Slender Halo of Light

The Roda S/120/V is a ring shaped pendant that spreads its light in a continuous halo rather than throwing it from one point. At 1200mm across, it's one of the more compact sizes in Bover's Roda family, letting the same clean circular silhouette work in rooms that couldn't take a larger version.

Two Diffuser Tones

Both finishes share the same brown frame, so the choice comes down to the diffuser. Cream gives the ring a warmer, softer glow, while white reads cooler and brighter, sitting more crisply against a pale ceiling.

How It Works

An integrated LED strip runs continuously inside the ring, diffusing through a ribbed ribbon shade so light spreads evenly around the whole circle instead of glaring from individual points. It's rated at 49W and 2160 lumens at 2700K warm white with a CRI of 90, and it's compatible with 1-10V dimming. The pendant hangs on twin cables from a 300mm ceiling plate, with a maximum drop of 2000mm, and fits either a recessed or surface mounted ceiling rose. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits dining tables, breakfast bars and hallways where a single ring of light can act as a focal point without overwhelming the room, and its more modest diameter also makes it easier to group in pairs above a console table or smaller dining setting.

Bover traces back to 1996 in Barcelona, when Joana Bover turned a sketch made for an architect friend's project into the beginning of the brand. It's still designed and produced in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona, and carries a Mediterranean design sensibility across its range, from hand woven outdoor fibre pieces to intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures like the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. Bover opened a subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012 to grow its presence in the US.
