A Pendant That Quiets the Room As Well As Lights It

The Noren S/85 takes its name from Japanese fabric room dividers, and works on a similar idea, a soft, textured panel that changes how a space feels rather than just how it looks. Sound absorbing foam and fabric sit inside a round felt profile, so it softens noise in the room at the same time as it lights it.

Woven in Warm Terracotta

This Terracotta colourway wraps the pendant in an earthy, warm toned fabric that suits biophilic schemes and interiors built around natural materials. Underneath, an aluminium frame and MDF core hold a layer of Basotect acoustic foam, wrapped in a thermoplastic fire resistant fabric (Crevin) that gives the surface its texture and colour.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind the fabric, available as down lighting only or as down and up lighting for a softer spread across the ceiling as well as the room below. Downlighting runs at 14.4W and 2160 lumens, with the up light on dual light source models adding 7W and 1040 lumens, both at a warm 3000K and a high 95 CRI for accurate colour. It's DALI dimmable and wired to Class I electrics, with the drop adjustable from 1350mm up to 3850mm so it can be set for the ceiling height it's hanging from.

At 850mm across, it suits open plan offices, hospitality venues and any commercial space where noise control matters as much as light, as well as homes that want the same warmth and quiet in a living or dining room.

Bover started in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover sketched a lighting idea for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and makes its lighting in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona, and carries a Mediterranean design sensibility across everything from woven outdoor pieces to indoor fixtures like the Noren. Bover opened a subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012 to serve the US market.
