A Rectangular Panel That Softens Sound and Light

The Noren S/72 is part of Bover's acoustic pendant range, a rectangular fixture that does two jobs at once. Layers of sound absorbing foam and fire resistant fabric sit behind its felt surface, quietly reducing echo in a room, while the light source built into the panel spreads a soft, even glow rather than a hard beam. In Terracotta, it brings a warm, earthy colour into a space that's usually left to greys and whites.

A Warm Terracotta Finish

The Terracotta colourway gives the Noren S/72 a rich, clay like tone that pairs naturally with timber, linen and stone. Underneath the fabric, the panel is built from an aluminium frame, MDF backing and Basotect sound absorbing foam, wrapped in a thermoplastic fire resistant fabric that holds its colour and shape over time.

How It Works

The Noren S/72 comes in two versions. The Down Lighting version sends 14.4W and 2160 lumens downward, while the Up and Down Lighting version adds a further 7W and 1040 lumens upward, so light bounces off the ceiling as well as falling onto the surface below. Both run at a warm 3000K colour temperature with a CRI of 95, so it renders colour accurately, and both are DALI dimmable for finer control than a standard dimmer allows. The drop is adjustable from 1700mm to 4200mm, so it can be set for the ceiling height it's hanging from.

Where It Works Best

Its rectangular shape and acoustic core suit open plan offices, meeting rooms and other commercial spaces where noise needs taming as much as light. At home, it works well over a kitchen island, dining table or desk, anywhere a pendant needs to soften the room's sound as well as light it.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996, after Joana Bover sketched an idea for an architect friend's project that grew into a lighting brand. The company still designs and produces its lighting from Cardedeu, near Barcelona, carrying a Mediterranean sensibility across everything it makes. Alongside the hand woven synthetic fibre pieces it's known for outdoors and the wood lattice fixtures like the Dome family indoors, Bover's acoustic ranges such as Noren show the same attention to material and craft applied to a more technical problem. Bover opened a subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012, extending the brand into the US.
