A Rectangular Pendant That Also Quiets the Room

The Bover Noren S/72 is an acoustic pendant built into a clean rectangular shade, doing double duty as a light fitting and a sound absorber. Its upright, narrower profile suits a single desk, reception counter or side table rather than spanning a whole surface, and the Light Grey felt exterior keeps it understated in most commercial interiors.

A Layered Acoustic Build

Underneath the Light Grey felt sits a core of Basotect, an open cell acoustic foam that absorbs sound rather than bouncing it back into the room. That foam is wrapped in a fire resistant Crevin fabric and set inside an aluminium frame, with MDF used in the internal structure. It's this layered build that lets the Noren S/72 soften noise in a room while still doing the job of a normal pendant light.

How It Works

Light comes from an integrated LED running at 3000K warm white with a CRI of 95, so colours underneath it read accurately. It's DALI dimmable, giving finer control than a simple on or off switch. Choose the Down Lighting version, which runs at 14.4W and 2160 lumens directed straight down, or the Up and Down Lighting version, which adds 7W and 1040 lumens thrown upward to lift the ceiling too. It hangs on an adjustable suspension, with the drop set anywhere between 170cm and 420cm to suit the room it's going into.

Where It Works Best

Its scale suits smaller, more contained spaces than the wider Noren models, sitting well over a reception desk, a single workstation, a small meeting table or a quiet corner of a restaurant or hotel lobby. It works as a single fitting or grouped with a few more in a cluster, anywhere an office or commercial space needs a touch of quiet alongside its light.

Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when a sketch Joana Bover drew for an architect friend turned into the start of a lighting brand. Design and production have stayed in Spain ever since, based out of Cardedeu near Barcelona. The brand is perhaps best known for its hand woven outdoor pieces and for intricate wood lattice fixtures like the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven strips of beech, but that same Mediterranean sensibility also shapes more technical, acoustic pieces like the Noren. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
