A Linear Pendant That Also Quiets the Room

The Noren S/151 Narrow stretches 151cm across, built to hang low and long over a large table or a wide kitchen run. It looks like a simple bar of light at first glance, but the body is layered with sound absorbing foam, so it softens noise in the room at the same time as it lights it. In Dark Grey, it has a graphic, understated presence that reads as considered rather than decorative.

Built From Layered, Sound Absorbing Materials

Inside the aluminium frame sits a layer of Basotect acoustic foam, wrapped in a thermoplastic, fire resistant fabric called Crevin, with MDF used at the ends of the fitting. That combination is what lets the Noren S/151 double as an acoustic panel as well as a light source. The Dark Grey finish gives the fabric a flat, matte tone that sits well against concrete, timber or painted walls without drawing attention to itself.

How It Works

The Noren S/151 is available as Down Lighting only, or as Up and Down Lighting, which adds light onto the ceiling as well as down onto the table below. The Down Lighting output runs at 20.5W and 3000 lumens, and the Up and Down Lighting version keeps that same downward output and adds a further 7W and 1040 lumens directed upward. Colour temperature sits at a warm 3000K, with a CRI of 95 for accurate colour rendering. It's Dali dimmable, and the drop is adjustable from 850mm up to 3350mm, so it can be set for the ceiling height and table position it's hanging over.

Where It Works Best

Its length suits large dining tables, long kitchen islands and open plan living spaces where a single pendant would look lost. The acoustic layer also makes it a practical choice for home offices, meeting rooms and other commercial spaces where reducing echo matters as much as the light itself.

Made By Bover

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, after a sketch she drew for an architect friend's project turned into the start of a lighting brand. The company still designs and manufactures from Cardedeu, just outside Barcelona, with a distinctly Mediterranean sensibility running through the range. Bover is known for two very different crafts under one roof, hand woven synthetic fibre pieces built for the outdoors, and intricate wood lattice fixtures indoors, such as the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. The brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
