A Curtain of Light and Quiet
The Noren takes its name from traditional Japanese fabric curtains, once used to divide a room without building a wall. Bover borrows that idea for a pendant that does two jobs at once, lighting a space and quietening it, using panels that absorb background noise rather than reflect it. In this narrow 123cm format and dark grey finish, it reads as a long, calm strip of light rather than a single fixture.
Built to Absorb as Well as Illuminate
Behind the fabric face sits Basotect acoustic foam, held in an aluminium frame with an MDF core. The visible surface is a thermoplastic, fire resistant fabric called Crevin, chosen in dark grey so the pendant can do acoustic work without looking like acoustic equipment. Testing rates its sound absorption at class A under UNE-EN ISO 11654:98 and ASTM C423-22.
How It Works
Light comes from an integrated LED at 3000K warm white with a CRI of 95, run through Dali dimming so levels can be set precisely rather than simply switched on or off. It's supplied as down lighting only, with a 60º or 90º beam option, or as up and down lighting, which adds a second, gentler light source above for a soft wash across the ceiling. The drop is adjustable from 850mm up to 3350mm, so it can be hung low over a table or higher across an open plan floor.
Where It Works Best
Designed for shared and professional spaces, the Noren S/123 suits open plan offices, meeting rooms and reception areas where hard surfaces make rooms noisy as well as bright. Hung singly or in a run, its narrow profile works well over long tables, breakout areas or corridors that need light and a bit of hush in equal measure.
Made By Bover
Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover sketched a lighting idea for an architect friend's project and turned it into a brand. Spanish design and manufacture has stayed central ever since, run from the company's base in Cardedeu, near Barcelona. Alongside hand woven outdoor pieces and wood lattice designs like the Dome family, Bover brings the same Mediterranean design sensibility to more technical, contract focused fittings such as the Noren. The brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.

Questions People Ask
What's the difference between the down lighting and up and down lighting versions?
The down lighting version directs all its light downward, while the up and down option adds a second light source that washes light upward too, for a softer glow on the ceiling.
Does the Noren S/123 actually reduce noise in a room?
Yes, its panels are built from Basotect acoustic foam and rated to sound absorption class A under UNE-EN ISO 11654:98 and ASTM C423-22, so it works as an acoustic treatment as well as a light source.
Can I dim the Noren S/123?
Yes, it runs on a Dali dimming system, so light levels can be set precisely rather than switched simply on or off.
