A Large Acoustic Dome With Its Own Warm Glow

The Noren S/100 is a large, round pendant built to do two jobs at once: soften a room's noise and light it well. Behind its fabric face sits a Basotect acoustic foam core, the same class of material used in dedicated sound treatment, so the fitting works as a genuine acoustic panel as well as a light source. At 1000mm across, it reads as a strong architectural presence overhead rather than a conventional pendant shade.

The Terracotta Finish

The fabric stretched across the Noren S/100 comes in Terracotta, a warm, earthy red tone that gives the flat circular face real depth rather than letting it read as a plain acoustic panel. It sits comfortably against timber, brick or warm neutral interiors, and suits spaces where an acoustic finish might otherwise look purely functional. Underneath the fabric, an MDF ring and aluminium structure keep the shape rigid and true across the full span.

How It Works

The Noren S/100 is available in two lighting configurations. The Down Lighting version houses a single integrated LED rated at 14.4W and 2160 lumens, sending light straight down into the room. The Up and Down Lighting version adds a second, smaller 7W LED producing a further 1040 lumens, so light also washes up toward the ceiling. Both run at a neutral 3000K colour temperature with a high CRI of 95, so colours underneath render accurately. The fitting is DALI dimmable, and the suspension adjusts from a 1500mm minimum drop up to 4000mm, so it can be set to suit a range of ceiling heights.

Where It Works Best

Its scale and acoustic properties suit large spaces that need help with noise as much as light: offices, restaurants, and other hospitality or commercial interiors where hard surfaces and high ceilings can make a room echo. Hung on its own over a reception desk or boardroom table, or repeated in a run through an open plan office, it gives a space genuine acoustic benefit without looking like acoustic treatment.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover turned a sketch drawn for an architect friend into the start of a lighting brand. The company still designs and makes its fittings in Spain, working from its base in Cardedeu near Barcelona. Alongside the hand woven synthetic fibre pieces it's known for outdoors, Bover also builds indoor fixtures with real technical depth, such as the Dome family's woven beech lattice shades, made from over 170 individual strips.
