A Circular Pendant That Softens Light and Sound Together

The Noren S/100 takes its name from traditional Japanese noren curtains, and translates that layered, textile look into a large circular pendant that also works acoustically. Underneath the felt surface sits a sound absorbing foam core, so it's built to do two jobs in a room where echo off hard ceilings and floors is a problem. At a full metre across, it has enough scale to anchor an open plan office, reception or dining space.

A Single Calm Grey, Built From Layered Felt

This version comes in Light Grey, a soft, neutral tone that sits comfortably against most ceiling colours without competing with the room around it. Underneath the felt, a Basotect acoustic foam core and a fire resistant fabric layer are bonded to an MDF disc, with an aluminium frame holding the whole shade in shape. It's the same layered construction across the Noren range. Light Grey is simply its calmest, most adaptable finish.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the pendant and shines downward, rated at 14.4W and 2160 lumens in the standard Down Lighting version. Choose the Up and Down Lighting option and a second 7W, 1040 lumen source is added, casting a soft wash onto the ceiling above as well as down into the room. Both run at a warm 3000K colour temperature with a CRI of 95, so colours underneath stay true. The driver is Dali dimmable, and the drop is adjustable from 1500mm up to 4000mm, so it can be set for a standard ceiling or a genuine double height space. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its acoustic core makes it particularly useful in open plan offices, meeting rooms and other commercial spaces where hard surfaces and high ceilings let sound travel and bounce. It suits reception areas, co working spaces and canteens just as well as a large dining room or living space at home that could do with feeling a little quieter as well as better lit. Being such a neutral tone, Light Grey slots into a contemporary interior without dictating the rest of the scheme.
