A Large Hand Woven Sphere of Light

The Nans Sphere S/80 is a big, rounded pendant built from hand woven synthetic fibre, its globe shaped shade glowing evenly rather than throwing a hard beam. At 800mm in diameter it holds real presence overhead, working as a focal point rather than a background fitting.

Three Finishes to Suit Different Settings

The weave comes in beige for a soft, sandy tone that sits quietly against most exteriors, brown for a deeper, more natural look that blends into planting and timber, and red for a bolder accent that stands out against white walls or evening greenery. All three sit on the same aluminium and stainless steel frame beneath the fibre.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the woven shade, running at 24W and 2400 lumens with a warm 2700K colour and a CRI of 90, so light passes through the weave rather than glaring from one point. It's compatible with a Triac dimmer, and the pendant drops up to 2570mm from a 120mm ceiling plate, so the hanging height can be set to suit the space. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its scale and diffused glow suit covered terraces, courtyards and outdoor dining areas, hung above a table or seating group where soft ambient light matters more than a directional beam. It works well in gardens and patios where one strong overhead piece makes more sense than several smaller fittings.

Bover began in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover first sketched the design that became the brand's earliest piece for an architect friend's project. The company still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona, and carries a Mediterranean sensibility across two strands of work: hand woven synthetic fibre pieces built for outdoor use, like the Nans Sphere, and intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
