The Nans Sphere S/60 takes its name from Cala Nans, a quiet cove near Cadaqués that's reachable only on foot or by boat. Its rounded, hand woven shade channels that same relaxed coastal feel into a small outdoor pendant, sized to work in spots where a larger fitting would feel out of place.

Three Woven Finishes: Beige, Brown and Red

Beige gives the sphere a pale, sandy tone that sits quietly against stone, render or light timber. Brown is a warmer, earthier shade, closer to the colour of natural rattan, and pairs well with aged wood or dark metalwork. Red is the boldest option, a warm terracotta tone built to stand out on a porch or terrace rather than blend into the background. All three share the same weather resistant synthetic fibre weave over an aluminium and stainless steel frame.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the woven shade, putting out 14W and 1400 lumens at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. Light filters through the fibre weave and the polycarbonate diffuser around the light source, so it glows softly across the whole sphere rather than throwing a single beam. It's fitted with a Triac dimming driver for use with a compatible dimmer switch, and hangs on a fixed 2570mm drop from a compact 120mm ceiling plate. Rated IP54, it's built for covered porches, canopies and sheltered terraces rather than spots left fully open to the rain.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover turned a sketch she'd drawn for an architect friend's project into the idea for a lighting brand. The company still designs and manufactures everything from Cardedeu, near Barcelona. Outdoors, Bover is best known for pieces exactly like this one, hand woven from synthetic fibre. Indoors, it takes a different craft further, weaving wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family from over 170 individual strips of beech. Both sides of the business share the same Mediterranean design sensibility, and the brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
