A Pendant Named After a Hidden Cove

The Nans S/55 takes its name from Cala Nans, a quiet cove near Cadaqués reached only on foot and marked by an old lighthouse. Bover built the Nans family around that same sense of weathered calm, and the S/55 carries it into a hand woven outdoor pendant with a rounded, lantern like shape.

A Mid Size Pendant in Three Woven Finishes

The S/55 sits between the smaller and larger sizes in the Nans range, giving it enough presence to read as a focal point without overwhelming a porch or terrace. It comes in three woven finishes: a warm beige for a softer, sandy look, a deeper brown that blends into planting and timber, and a red that stands out as a genuine accent colour against a plain wall or ceiling.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the weave, putting out 635 lumens from 8W of power at a warm 2700K colour temperature with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. Light diffuses through the synthetic fibre rather than shining directly, giving a soft, even glow rather than a hard beam. It works with a Triac dimmer, and the pendant drops 2000mm from a 120mm diameter ceiling plate, so the height can be set to suit the space it's hanging in.

Its size makes it a natural fit for porches and covered terraces, where a single Nans S/55 can light a doorway or seating area, or where two or three grouped together create a soft run of glow along a walkway or pergola.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing out of a sketch she made for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, working from Cardedeu near Barcelona, and is known for pairing hand woven outdoor pieces like the Nans family with intricate wood lattice indoor fittings such as the Dome range. That Mediterranean sensibility runs through the whole catalogue, and Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012 to bring the same designs to a wider market.
