The Nans S/31 takes its name from Cala Nans, a small cove near Cadaqués that can only be reached on foot or by sea. It's the largest pendant in the Nans family, its wide, hand woven shade holding a soft, diffused glow with the same weathered, coastal calm the collection is built around.

Three Ways to Wear the Weave

The Nans S/31 comes in beige, brown or red. Beige keeps things quiet and sits comfortably against stone, render or timber cladding. Brown leans warmer and more natural, blending into planting and darker outdoor furniture. Red is the boldest option of the three, standing out as a genuine colour statement rather than settling into the background.

How It Works

Light comes from an integrated LED rather than a replaceable bulb, running at 9.5W and 1450 lumens in a warm 2700K white with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. It's compatible with a Triac dimmer, and the drop is adjustable from 460mm to 2000mm on a 120mm ceiling plate, so it can hang low over a table or sit higher across a wider space. Metal surfaces are coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over them, and the whole fitting carries an IP54 rating for genuine outdoor use. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Its scale makes it a natural fit as a single statement piece above an outdoor dining table, or as the centrepiece of a covered terrace or garden room where its size and glow can properly be appreciated. Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, starting out as a sketch for an architect friend's project, and the brand still designs and makes its lighting in Spain, from its base in Cardedeu near Barcelona. Alongside intricate wood lattice pieces like the Dome family, Bover is known for hand woven outdoor collections such as Nans, carried by a Mediterranean design sensibility. The brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
