The Nans Portable M/41 takes its name from Cala Nans, a quiet cove near Cadaqués with a lighthouse and salt washed calm, and translates that mood into a small, cordless table lamp you can carry to wherever you're sitting. Hand woven and built to live outdoors, it brings the relaxed character of the wider Nans collection down to a size that fits on a dining table or beside a lounger.

Three Woven Finishes: Beige, Brown and Red

Beige gives the lamp a pale, sandy tone that sits quietly against stone paving, timber decking or planting, blending in rather than standing out. Brown reads warmer and closer to natural cane, a good match for aged wood furniture or darker metal accents. Red is the boldest of the three, a warm terracotta toned finish that gives the lamp its own presence rather than disappearing into the background. All three share the same hand woven construction, so the choice comes down to which tone suits your outdoor space.

How It Works

An integrated switch gives three lighting positions, 33%, 66% and 100% brightness, so you can dial the light up for a dinner or down for a quiet evening. The LED runs at 6.3W and 950 lumens with a warm 2700K colour temperature and a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. Being cordless and rechargeable, it can be moved freely around a patio, table or lounger without needing to sit near a socket, then recharged when it's done.

Where It Works Best

Its small scale and portability suit an outdoor dining table, a spot beside a sun lounger, or a step or ledge on a patio where a fixed light isn't practical. Because it moves with you, it works equally well shifted between a garden table one evening and a balcony or terrace the next.

Made By Bover

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing out of a sketch she drew for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, from a base in Cardedeu near Barcelona. It's known for two strands of work, hand woven synthetic fibre pieces like this one for outdoor use, and intricate wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. A Mediterranean design sensibility runs through both, and Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
