A Flush Light Rooted in a Cadaqués Cove

The Nans PF/21 takes its name and its story from Cala Nans, a quiet cove near Cadaqués with an old lighthouse and salt worn stone. Unlike a pendant, it sits flush against the ceiling, so it works in porches and covered terraces where there isn't room for anything to hang down. It's a step up in scale from the smaller PF/16, giving a slightly larger flush fitting for the same low headroom spaces.

Three Finishes: Beige, Brown and Red

Beige keeps things pale and neutral, blending easily into stone, render or timber surrounds. Brown reads warmer and more natural, closer to aged wood or dark stonework nearby. Red brings a stronger, more definite colour if you want the fitting to stand out rather than blend in. All three share the same hand woven synthetic fibre construction over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to which tone suits the space.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind the woven fibre and polycarbonate diffuser, rated at 9.5W and 1450 lumens with a warm 2700K colour temperature and a CRI of 90. Light passes through the weave rather than shining out from one point, so the glow stays soft and even. It works with a Triac dimmer, and being rated IP54, it's built for covered outdoor spaces such as porches and terraces rather than fully exposed spots. Its low profile ceiling plate suits areas with limited headroom.

Where It Works Best

Its flush fit and modest size suit porches, covered terraces and walkways where a pendant would hang too low or wouldn't fit at all. It works just as well over a covered entrance or a sheltered outdoor corridor, anywhere that calls for gentle, ambient light close to the ceiling rather than a strong downward beam.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover turned a sketch drawn for an architect friend into the start of a lighting brand. The company still designs and manufactures everything from its base in Cardedeu, just outside Barcelona. Outdoors, Bover is known for pieces built by hand from woven synthetic fibre, like this one. Indoors, that same craft shows up in wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family, woven from more than 170 individual strips of beech. Across both, the designs carry a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Bover opened a subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012, bringing the brand to the US.
