The Nans PF/16 is a small outdoor ceiling light from Bover's Nans collection, named after Cala Nans, a secluded cove near Cadaqués reachable only by footpath or boat. Its hand woven shade sits flush against the ceiling rather than hanging down, bringing the same handcrafted character as the rest of the Nans range to spaces where a pendant simply wouldn't have room to hang.

Three Woven Finishes

The Nans PF/16 comes in three finishes. Red gives it a bold, warm accent against pale walls or render. Beige keeps things quiet and sandy, blending into stone, brick or timber. Brown reads more natural, closer to the tone of aged wood or dark render. All three share the same weave over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to how much you want the fitting to stand out.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind the woven shade, giving out 635 lumens from 8W at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. It works with a Triac dimmer, so light levels can be set to suit the space. The polycarbonate diffuser and woven synthetic fibre spread the glow evenly rather than casting a hard beam, and the fitting mounts flush to the ceiling on a 120mm diameter plate. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Where It Works Best

Its flush fixing and IP54 rating make it a practical choice for porches, covered walkways and low overhangs, anywhere a hanging pendant wouldn't clear the space. It suits front doors, courtyards and covered terraces where soft, ambient light is more useful than a strong beam.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, an idea that started life as a sketch for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and makes its lighting in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona, and works across two distinct techniques: hand woven synthetic fibre pieces built for the outdoors, like the Nans range, and intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family. A Mediterranean design sensibility runs through both. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
