A Compact Echo of a Cadaqués Cove

The Nans A/01 takes its name from Cala Nans, a hidden cove near Cadaqués known for its weathered lighthouse and quiet shoreline. It's the smallest fitting in the Nans collection, hand woven and sized for spots that need a soft wash of light rather than a wide spread.

Three Woven Finishes: Beige, Brown and Red

Beige gives the shade a pale, sandy tone that sits quietly against stone, render or timber. Brown is warmer and closer to the colour of natural cane, so it blends into aged wood, brick or dark metalwork. Red is the boldest of the three, standing out as a deliberate accent against a pale wall rather than blending into the background. All three share the same hand woven synthetic polyethylene fibre over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the weave goes on.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits inside the woven shade, rated at 8W and 635 lumens with a warm 2700K colour temperature and a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering. It's compatible with a Triac dimmer, so the light can be turned down for a softer mood or brought up for a stronger wash. A polycarbonate diffuser inside the weave spreads the glow evenly rather than letting it shine from one point, and the whole fitting is built to Class I electrical standards with CE and EAC certification.

Where It Works Best

Its small footprint suits narrow doorways, short stretches of garden wall or anywhere a broader fitting like the Nans A/02 would feel too large. It works well either side of an entrance, along a boundary wall or spaced out at intervals where a gentle wash of light is all that's needed.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, an idea that began life as a sketch for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, from its base in Cardedeu near Barcelona, with a distinctly Mediterranean design sensibility. Outdoors, Bover is known for hand woven synthetic fibre pieces exactly like the Nans range, while indoors it takes a different craft further, weaving wood lattice fixtures such as the Dome family from over 170 individual strips of beech. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
