A Compact Woven Dome for Covered Ceilings

The Garota PF/01 is the small, flush mounted light in Bover's Garota family, hand woven from synthetic fibre over a metal frame into a rounded, faceted dome. Rather than throwing a hard beam of light, it glows softly from within the weave, sitting close to the ceiling so it doesn't eat into headroom in a tighter covered space.

Two Woven Finishes

It comes in two finishes. Graphite Brown is a deep, earthy weave that settles into stone, brick or dark timber surrounds without drawing attention to itself. Natural White, also listed as Ivory White, is a paler weave that reads crisp and clean against rendered walls or a lighter porch. Both use the same hand woven synthetic fibre over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to which tone suits the space it's going into.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind a UV resistant polyethylene globe, delivering 8.4W and 1122 lumens at a warm 2700K with a CRI of 90, so colours still read naturally under it. The globe spreads the light evenly through the weave rather than letting it glare from one point, and it's compatible with a Triac dimmer if you want to bring the level down. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it, and the whole fitting carries an IP66 rating for genuine outdoor use. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Its flush profile and compact 270mm diameter suit porches, covered entrances, carports, balconies and outdoor corridors, anywhere you want ambient light sitting close to the ceiling rather than a pendant or wall light taking up space.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing out of a sketch drawn up for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, based in Cardedeu near Barcelona, and works across two distinct strands: hand woven synthetic fibre pieces built for the outdoors, like the Garota, and intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family. Both carry the same Mediterranean design sensibility, and Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
