A Sea Urchin Shape For The Garden

The Garota P/01 takes its rounded, ribbed silhouette from a sea urchin, with a hand woven synthetic fibre shade that glows evenly rather than throwing a hard beam. At 610mm tall and 720mm across, it sits low and wide, more like a lit boulder among planting than a conventional floor lamp.

Brown or Ivory White

The Garota P/01 comes in two woven finishes. The brown weave has a warm, natural tone that settles into planting and stone, while the ivory white weave sits brighter and more contemporary against paving or a pale terrace. Both use the same stainless steel frame and hand woven polyethylene fibre, so the choice comes down to how you want it to read in your garden.

How It Works

A UV resistant polyethylene globe sits inside the weave and diffuses two E27 LED bulbs, up to 15W each and not included, so light spreads softly through the shade rather than glaring from one point. It only dims if you fit dimmable bulbs, since there's no separate driver doing the work. The stainless steel frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it, and it's supplied with a 3 pin plug fitted as standard, so it's ready to connect to an outdoor socket.

Where It Works Best

Its low, wide glow suits patios, terraces and lawns where you want ambient light close to the ground, standing among planting, along a path, or grouped in twos near seating.

Bover started in Barcelona in 1996, when Joana Bover sketched a lighting idea for an architect friend and went on to found the brand. It's still designed and produced in Spain today, run from Cardedeu near Barcelona, with a Mediterranean sensibility that spans hand woven outdoor pieces like the Garota through to the intricate wood lattice fixtures of the Dome family. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
