A Glow Shaped Like a Sea Urchin

The Garota P/01 takes its shape from the sea urchin, a rounded, spiky silhouette woven by hand rather than moulded in one piece. It stands on a slender stainless steel stem, so the woven head seems to float above the ground and cast light outward rather than down. Small enough to tuck into a border or set beside a doorway, it works just as well as a single accent or repeated along a path.

Two Shades, One Silhouette

The Garota P/01 comes in two woven finishes on the same stainless steel stem. Brown gives the shade a warm, earthy tone that sits comfortably among planting, while Ivory White reads brighter and cleaner, standing out against darker foliage or stone. Both share the same hand woven synthetic fibre construction, so the choice really comes down to which tone suits your garden.

How It Works

Light comes from an integrated LED rated at 17.1W and 2064 lumens, warmed to 2700K with a CRI of 90 for accurate colour rendering after dark. A UV resistant polyethylene globe sits inside the woven shade to protect and diffuse the light source, so it glows evenly through the fibre rather than shining from one point. It's available with or without Triac dimming, so you can choose fixed brightness or a dimmable setup for mood lighting in outdoor entertaining areas. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it, and the whole fixture carries an IP66 rating for full outdoor exposure. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Its scale and glow suit terraces, patios, poolside areas and garden paths, standing alone as an accent light or grouped along a walkway. It's built for permanent outdoor use, so it can stay in place through the changing seasons rather than being brought indoors.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, an idea that began as a sketch for an architect friend's project. The brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, headquartered in Cardedeu near Barcelona, carrying the same Mediterranean sensibility from hand woven outdoor pieces like the Garota through to intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips. Bover opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
