A Woven Sea Urchin for the Wall

The Garota A/01 carries the rounded, faceted shape of a sea urchin onto an exterior wall. Rather than throwing a hard beam, it glows softly from within, hand woven so light escapes through the shade itself instead of from one bright point.

Two Woven Finishes

The Garota A/01 comes in two colourways. Graphite Brown reads darker and more natural, blending into stonework and planting, while Natural White sits lighter and shows up clearly against a darker wall. Both use the same woven synthetic fibre shade over an aluminium and stainless steel frame, so the choice comes down to how much contrast you want.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind the woven shade, protected by a UV resistant polyethylene globe, so light diffuses evenly through the weave rather than glaring from a single point. It runs at 8.4W and 1122 lumens in a warm 2700K white with a CRI of 90, and works with a Triac dimmer. The metal frame is coated with cataphoresis and epoxy polyester paint before the fibre is woven over it, giving it an IP66 rating for permanent outdoor use.

Its compact scale and sheltered wall mounting suit doorways, garden gates, terrace walls and pergola uprights, anywhere you want ambient light framing an entrance or a seating area rather than lighting up a whole space.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, starting out as a sketch for an architect friend's project, and the brand still designs and produces its lighting in Spain, from its headquarters in Cardedeu near Barcelona. It's known for hand woven synthetic fibre pieces like the Garota family, alongside intricate wood lattice indoor fixtures such as the Dome range, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips, all carrying a distinctly Mediterranean design sensibility. The brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
