A Small Scale Wood Lattice That Glows From Within

The Dome 60/01 is the smallest single shade pendant in the Dome family, built using the same hand woven beech technique as the larger sizes but scaled down for bedside tables, reading corners, and smaller dining spaces. Light escapes through the gaps in the lattice rather than shining out directly, so it reads more like a piece of sculpture than a conventional pendant.

Hand Woven Beech Over A Metal Frame

The shade is made from individual strips of beech, woven and stitched into a rounded lattice over an iron and aluminium frame that holds its shape. At 600mm in diameter and 380mm tall, it carries the same craft and texture as the rest of the Dome range in a footprint that suits smaller rooms.

How It Works

An integrated LED sits behind the woven shade rather than pointing straight out, putting out 12.5W and 1332 lumens at 2700K warm white with a CRI of 90, so colours underneath it stay true. It works with a Triac dimmer, and the drop is adjustable from 900mm to 3000mm on a 140mm ceiling plate, so it can be set low over a bedside table or higher above a small dining setting. Moonlight Design recommends that all lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Bover was founded in Barcelona in 1996 by Joana Bover, growing from a sketch she drew for an architect friend's project into a brand still designed and produced in Spain, headquartered in Cardedeu near Barcelona. It's known for two strands of work: hand woven synthetic fibre pieces for outdoor use, and intricate wood lattice fixtures like the Dome family, built from over 170 individually woven beech strips on the larger sizes. A Mediterranean design sensibility runs through both, and the brand opened a US subsidiary in Atlanta in 2012.
